THIS GUY'S IN LOVE WITH YOU

I've seen stars in your eyes
I've seen stars in your skies
I've seen things of which that I'm not sure of
I should sacrifice
I don't know what brought you to me
Do you know what you do to me?
I guess I'm already over the moon
I hope that I don't fall in love with you

I've been walking down your streets
You've been walking through my dreams
But I wonder if you're certain
of all of the things you feel
Is it not just summer loving?
Do you really really want me
now that I'm already over the moon?
I hope that I don't fall in love with you

'cause you live too far away
and our worlds are miles apart
But how can you fight a feeling
that is starting in your heart?
I'm about to make my move
'cause I think that I like you
But I wonder if you like me to
I hope that I don't fall in love with you

I think I'm getting insecure
I think that I'll just want you more
I'm rushing into this now like
I've never done before
Do you know I'm thinking of you
I don't know how much I love with you
You've got me all over the moon
I hope that I don't fall in love with you

I was afraid you'd turn me down
when we were sitting on your porch
Now look where we are now
we're all afraid 'cause we want more
I'm about to make my move
'cause I think that I like you
And I wonder if you like me too?
Oh baby, this guy's in love with you

MOTIVATION

From the moment I added a girl from America on Facebook and we started chatting I kinda knew I was in trouble.

I saw her and was in love. I wrote the rest of the lyrics a few days later, both realizing we were in love. It really was love at first sight, and everything was beautiful. It was an amazing summer, beautiful weather and good company.

I think it was 3 at night, everyone had gone to bed, the sprinklers were on, you could hear the crickets chirping, a beautiful sky and I finally made my move and we made out. I never told her I'd written parts in my head long before we actually met for real and what kind of impression she'd already made from the things she talked about online.

Once I showed her the lyrics she didn't really know what to say, and once I played it for her it was the first time I actually played the song. I was a bit nervous, I'd never played a new song for someone else before playing it to myself first. I thought she really liked the song, but she stayed very calm. The next day I was spooning with her in bed and I could read a text she'd send to a friend of her. "OMG he wrote me a song!!!" it read. I wasn't supposed to read it I guess, but it made it clear to me that she actually liked it a lot more than she showed.

Months later I got the plan to record a video for her for Christmas, making a video for this song and give it to her for Christmas. I recorded the song professionally and filmed everything I did, thinking I could mix it all together later with my limited Adobe Premiere experience. Then a hard drive crash occurred and I had no acces to anything anymore. So yeah, there's a recording of this one on a hard drive that still works but can't be booted from. I never told her I'd done all this and instead gave her something else as a present.

This also meant I had to re-record this one completely, which I kept postponing until finally most of the other stuff had been recorded. Once listening to the final recording I can say I'm quite proud of this one. It really captures what and how it was like that summer, and also how intimate we got despite her house being full of guests.

EXPLANATION

"I've seen stars in your eyes, I've seen stars in your skies", refers to me first seeing the stars in her eyes when I met her, and then a few days later seeing the stars in the skies in the town she lived. It's me iimagining walking her home. I was fantasizing about what might happen in America, it was a line that was already in my head weeks before we'd actually really meet.

"I hope that I don't fall in love with you"
was a line I kept thinking of, first before meeting her and then the first day after we'd met eachother. I kept on saying to her how I wasn't going to fall in love with her up to the point where she jokingly said "you're so full of shit", both being complete aware that quite the opposite had happened.

"I was afraid you'd turn me down" refers to us sitting on the porch, and she encouraging me to make my move, despite me being afraid I'd mess up a lot of things, I was their guest and wasn't sure whether it'd be appreciated if I'd hook up with someone right away. It turned out to be quite alright though.

"I'm about to make my move" was me constantly saying to everyone how I was about to make my move, but never actually doing it. Whenever I said it I hoped she would pick up on my hints and although she did she didn't openly admit it at first. Now that I think of it she must've enjoyed playing around with me like that.

"This guy's in love with you" originates from a Burt Bacharach song with the same title. I always loved the title, and knew the song because Noel Gallagher had sang the song once. I recorded the song as well with the intention of making a CD single for her with a proper a and b-side.
