FIRST LANDSCAPE

My first attempt at a real landscape was this one. I've got no idea where this is exactly but the picture is made in a sketchbook handed to you in elementary school, so it must've been made somewhere in 1997, which probably means Switzerland as that is where we went on holiday in the summer. I'd never really drawn landscapes before and this one was the first one that actually inspired me. I've drawn more landscapes later on but never really saw it as a challenge due to not much detail is needed in order to make it succesful. You can cheat yourself out of it because no one will really know whether the windows on a house are correct, where as if you're getting the shape of a tire wrong a car looks horribly disfigured. The reason why this picture is some sort of milestone is because this is the one where I discovered these details, and learned how to simulate depth by different sorts of arcering and shading.
