Our family had visited an Asterix and Obelix exhibition somewhere in Amsterdam, and they sold original prints of famous panels from various comic books. I wanted one, I've always loved the books ever since my dad introduced me to them, but they were expensive. Why not draw one yourself instead, my mom asked, and off we went.
It'd be the first full colour comic panel I'd ever drawn. The artwork for several comics from Belgium and France is seriously underrated. Most series are drawn by different ratists nowadays and although in some cases (Suske and Wiske (Bob and Bobette) the artwork has suffered a lot, but with Asterix and Obelix most if has stayed up to its regular quality.
I've no idea why I only drew this one though. Usually when I'm succesful in something and enjoyed doing it I try again and again until I get bored. One thing that might've had something to do with it is that I found out halfway that my markers were empty, and there's a colouring difference in Obelix' skin already. I should do a few more, I think.
